business tips

I think working in different field and different company has indeed expand my thoughts about doing business.

A lot of times i think that being a business person, you need to be flexible and not obsesive about money.

the current hotel owner is not flexible at all and is absolutely obsesed about money.

1st point: cashier must have some change money in the drawer right? However, this morning, he left only less than £2 in the drawer!!!! !"$%@:* customer gave me £40 and i have to return them £10.. open drawer, only few penny left... wah lau eh.. so kiam siap lor.... so end up, i have to go and take my money and return the customer first. if I'm broke on that day.. how ler? tsk tsk tsk...

2nd point: booking system is very redundant. alot of times, mistakes can easily happen if you don't double or tripple check. This morning, i took a booking on Saturday only. he checked the booking and insist on calling the customer back to tel them to change to another room because that room is reserve for bookings for 2 nights.. wth again.... flexible a bit lar... in the end, customer say want to cancel booking.. but because of their policy, once booking is confirm, you can cancel it. kua kua kua.... pening lor....
In this situation, won't it be better to let the booking be, rather than causing customer to be upset and wanting to cancel the booking? Yes, i admit is my mistake, come on lar ok.. it's only my 2nd day working alone.
In another situation, we miss out alot of bookings, because we CAN'T do 1 night booking on weekends. I think it's a good idea to sell 2 or 3 nights on weekend, but most times, customer just don't have so much time, can't they just reserve some rooms for 1 night booking and some for 2 or 3 nights booking?

Oh well... a bit frustrated with how the system goes here... but i'm not the boss...
