The Journey of Mt KK (Day 1)

23rd April 2008

8.15am - The journey started with me, dom, mel & david arriving a little too early at the airport. Me & dom have to be early because my housemate send us there and she starts work at 8.30am. David & Mel pulak got the flight time wrong.. haha

9.40am - Enjoying our Nando's meal and chit chatting, we realised it's not early anymore. As we are making our way through, we met our other gang, Geoff & WM and they told us to hurry up because the gate is closing in 10 minutes time. We ran to check in, ran again to the custom and it's one hell of a long queue. Don't know why, on that particular day, there's soooooo many people there.. Chinese say it "People mountain People Sea"

while queuing.. Caroline, Eunice, Dom, myself & Mel

10.15am - we were the last to board the plane.. :s (That's how late we were..)

1pm - Despite a bad experience with the car arrangement, this year, they are pretty impressive! Last year, we waited for 3 hours for the bloody van, but this time, they are ready and waiting for us with a board that says "Ms Jennifer" hahaha... my friends laughed at the sign... The van is new, plenty of space for our luggages and the road tax is current.. great! The journey to KK park begins shortly after we had our lunch and bought water supply as well as a headlamp for myself.

We seems to love KFC in KK as the last trip we went, our lunch was also KFC. This time round, same thing.. :s

3pm - The journey to KK park seems sooo much shorter compare to the last time we drove ourself, I still don't understand how they can make it in 2 hours where we took almost 4 hours... :s

David's special way to sleep in a van

5pm - Got our keys to our hostel. Still have plenty of time to do a little packing before we head out to attend a short briefing before our "hike the next day. Suddenly.... we hear rain drops... "Tak..Tak...Tak.." then thunder roar and the next thing is heavy rain...

Getting ready to brave the rain

6pm - Reluctantly, everyone took out their Ponchos, rain coat & jacket and change to shorts & sandals. My God, walking under heavy rain in cold weather is seriously not fun at all! I thought i had frost bite on my toes and my fingers but it's just numb from the strong cold wind and the rain... Once we reach the reception counter, we were told that the briefing is actually in another block that we have walk back and walk past our hostel.... great... brave the strong wind and rain again

7pm - after much practice walking under the rain and strong wind, we had our dinner at a restaurant outside of the park. Food wasn't great but the hot soup sure does help to keep us warm.. The red wine david brought along helps too! :)

Dinner place..

9pm - Shower time. The receptionist told us that there's hot water in the shower... #*^$(*#$*% the hot water only lasted for 3 seconds before cold water come rushing in... &*#@*#*@%# Thank goodness for Mel's hair dryer.. it sure comes pretty handy in drying the clothes, hair and keeping the feet and hand warm too.. hehe

11pm - ZZZzz time... waking up at 5.30am the next day for Mesilau Trail
